Buying a home is soo exciting. It is one of those great milestones in life. The first thing most new homeowners worry about is decorating and finding the perfect place to put all of their belongings. Once you are settled in your beautiful new home it is important to start getting into the habit of maintenance so you can keep your home functioning at it best for your family for years to come.

While regular cleaning is very important to maintenance so is the maintenance of the major systems of your home .

- Paint your gutters about every 6 years to ward off rust and prevent damage from rust. If you have vinyl or aluminum gutters on your home you will not need to worry about this step.

- Regularly clean out your gutters. You want to make sure you get any leaves, trash, or buildup out of them to keep them working their best.

- Make sure your downspout is not pointing towards your homes foundation. It is very important it is facing away from your homes foundation to prevent and water or mold damage.

To care for your heating and cooling units here are some great tips

- Clean out or swap out your air filters every 3 months. This is a great habit to make.

- Close registers in rooms you don’t use or use often. This can provide some real savings and will prevent the units from working harder to heat or cool unused areas in the home.

- Have your units inspected by a professional heating and air conditioning company and the beginning of winter and spring/summer.

To care for your homes plumbing here are some great tips

- Keep drains unclogged and snake them every few months.

- If you notice you have a noisy pipe when a faucet is on that is usually sign of a loose or worn washer. This can lead to leaks. Fix or replace the washer right away.

- If you notice a leak of any kind call a plumber immediately.

The majority of people in the United States have the mentality that when something is broken we must replace it. For some items this viewpoint can hold true.

Electric Cooktops are one of the new trends when it comes to kitchen appliances. Electric cooktops use surface heating as opposed to flames. These cooktops are reliable and have a long life expectancy but like many appliances they will wear out over time. Burners, switches and fuses can malfunction or break.

When repairing your electric cooktop you will need, wire caps, screwdrivers, and a multimeter. You are able to pick these items up from a hardware store.

First you will need to determine if the appliance is plugged in. Then check the panel. Check that the outlet is working properly. Test the switches. You are able to replace switches and control panels easily if that is the problem.

To check if the burners are causing the problem, disconnect the power from the range. Remove the burner and inspect the part for burn marks or holes or damage that has formed, if burn marks, holes, or damage is present replace the burner. If you see buildup on the part, clean it with steel wool until all buildup is removed. Plug the burner back in and see if starts heating up and working. Disconnect the unit again and select a wire to test using a multimeter. Test the probe of each receptacle and switch. They should all show continuity in electricity. If any of the burners fail this test they will need to be replaced with new ones.

Repairing an electric stove is not a task a novice do it yourselfer should undertake. If you are not skilled in electrical and appliance repairs it is recommended you contact a professional.

A microwave is one of the most used appliances at home. In fact, there are many homes which just can’t do without a microwave. The popularity of the microwave is credited its convenience. You can cook, prepare anything you want at home with the help of your very trusted Microwave. Unfortunately electronic appliances do malfunction every now and then. Most of the time, the fuse of the Microwave is damaged. When it does happen most people prefer to call to professionals for the repairs. But it can be repaired at home without any sort of complications.

Let’s do it! First of all, you are required to locate your fuse. They are usually an inch or two long. Each end is metallic and the center is either ceramic or glass. To get to the fuse, remove the outer cabinet of the unit, which is usually held in place with a few screws. Once the outer cabinet is removed, follow the power cord into the unit. It will take you to the fuse holder, where the fuse sits. The fuse holder is located two or three inches into the unit, and may be attached to a power board. Decide if your fuse is blown. A blown glass fuse will produce flash burn marks on nearby surfaces, or it will be completely black on the inside. The internal fuse wire (filament) will be melted and blackened. Ceramic fuses give no outward signs of having blown. To determine if a ceramic fuse is blown, test it with an ohmmeter. If the ohmmeter reads zero ohms, your fuse is fine. A reading of infinite ohms means your fuse is blown.

Replace the blown fuse. Pop it out of its holder and snap in a new one. You can squeeze the fuse clips together with your fingers in order to tighten their grip. Replace the unit’s outer cabinet, plug it back in, and test to see if it is running properly. Do not run the microwave with nothing in it. Remember here that fuses do not usually blow on their own. A fuse may blow because of problems with the interlock switches or with high voltage circuitry. It is also possible, though rare, that a power surge will cause a fuse to blow.

An air conditioning system is one of the most important appliances at home and in the office. Considering the importance of this very appliance, it is highly recommended to perform regular maintenance to avoid any kind of malfunction in the future. In many cases, when air conditioning appliances are broken down they require professional service calls. It is always better to prevent costly repairs with proper maintenance and use. Follow these suggested steps to get the most life out of your air conditioning system and the most efficiency.

First of all, it is recommended to try setting your thermostat between 72°F and 78°F. Each degree setting below 78°F will increase your energy consumption by approximately 8%. As you can see, that can add up to a lot of money over a year. Next, you should never forget to inspect and clean both the indoor and outdoor AC/Heating coils. The indoor coil in your air conditioner acts as a magnet for dust because it is constantly accumulating moisture during the cooling season. Dirt build-up on the indoor coil is the single most common cause of poor efficiency. The outdoor coil must also be checked periodically for dirt build-up and cleaned if necessary.

Furthermore, check the refrigerant charge. The circulating fluid in your air conditioner is a special refrigerant gas that is put in when the system is installed. If the system is overcharged or undercharged with refrigerant, it will not work properly. You may need a service contractor to check the fluid and adjust it appropriately. Remember to use bath and kitchen fans sparsely when you are running the air conditioning system. Now, reduce the cooling load by using cost-effective conservation measures. For example, effectively shade east and west facing windows. When possible, delay heat-generating activities, such as dishwashing or baking, until the evening on hot days. Remember that you should never try to use a dehumidifier at the same time your air conditioner is operating. The dehumidifier will increase the cooling load and force the air conditioner to work harder, which in turn increases your utility bill.Over most of the cooling season, keep the house closed tight during the day. Don’t let in unwanted heat and humidity. If practical, ventilate at night either naturally or with fans.

A refrigerator is one of the few appliances in your home that runs continuously, day or night, keeping your food cold. If you consider how hard a refrigerator has to work, it is actually quite amazing that they break down so infrequently. On the rare occasion your refrigerator does stop working, you may face a high repair bill and the added expense of replacing all your lost food. Have you ever wondered what makes your refrigerator run?

Refrigerators and freezers consist of two basic components: a condenser coil and an evaporator coil. A liquid coolant is circulated through these coils by a compressor and a motor. The refrigerant liquid is cooled in the condenser; it then flows to the evaporator. At the evaporator, the air in the unit is cooled by contact with the liquid-filled coil. The condenser of a refrigerator or freezer is the coil on the outside of the unit; the evaporator is the coil on the inside. The coolant is circulated through the system by a compressor.

Most refrigerators and freezers are frost-free. In this type of unit, a heater is automatically turned on by a timer in order to melt the frost inside the unit. Frost is melted by the heater at several different spots in the unit, starting with the coldest and most frosted areas. When the frost is completely melted, the thermostat automatically switches to a cooling cycle in order to maintain the standard freezing temperature. Because this process is automatic, frost does not build up inside the box.

The unit’s compressor system, which forces the coolant through the coil system, is driven by a capacitor-type motor. Other basic parts of the cooling/defrosting system include switches, thermostats, heaters, condensers, and fans. If you are experiencing malfunction with your refrigerator a do-it-yourselfer can test and replace many of these refrigerator components. However, it is best to call a professional or refrigerator repair las vegas to service your refrigerator when it is not working properly.

In our contemporary world, technology has left no stone unturned to make the lives of people simpler. The variety of new appliances in the market is a sign of the popularity of appliances amongst people. Not to mention, the appliances play an essential role in an individual’s life. As they are machines or use some kind of technology, they are required to be maintained properly to provide long term use. The dishwasher is one such appliance that can be seen commonly in various homes. Families and Homeowners are opting for dishwashers all over the country. The dishwasher manufacturing companies in the country have shown promising growth in the last few years. Dishwashers are bound to break down over time like all appliances and machines do. Dishwashers do have some mechanical problems that are more common than others. Many people will attempt to fix these problems themselves. However, you should always take safety measures first before attempting repairs. Any kind of negligence to safety while fixing the dishwashers can lead to serious consequences. Let us examine various problems that you could face with your dishwashers and the kind of solutions that are available. If your dishwasher has stopped working completely then you should consider the following tips. If there is no power to the dishwasher you should first ensure that power is being supplied to the dishwasher. Check to see if there are any tripped wires, connection or a blown fuse. It is likely that your dishwasher somehow disconnected the power cord which is leading to the issue. Check your door switch, timer, and selector switch; if they are causing the problem then you will need to replace them. If your dishwasher is not cleaning the dishes then it could be a problem of water not reaching to the dishwasher. You should ensure that the water valve is open enough. In fact, if you have water going to the dishwasher but it is still not working then the problem could be a faulty water valve which should be replaced. If you have clogged spray arms then you should check if they are clogged due to dust or debris. Set the temperature to 120 degrees to have your dishwasher working effectively. If there is not enough soap then you are probably filling up one part of the soap. Now, if your dishwasher is not draining properly then you should check if air gaps are clogged. Clogging is the most common problem for not having a dishwasher draining properly. You should check Impellers or Belts in the dishwashers. They are probably broken if the dishwasher is not draining properly. By applying these tips at home, you will have your dishwashers working in a top condition throughout its life. Make sure that you service them regularly by washer repair las vegas.

A customer recently asked us a very timely question. She says “I recently moved into a new house and received my first power bill. I was shocked at the amount, and was sure there had been a mistake. I was wrong. A friend suggested I replace my thermostat with one that is programmable. Can this really save me money? Yes Ma’am it sure can! Manufacturers claim that programmable thermostats can cut energy costs by as much as 35 percent. I don’t know how this applies to Southern Nevada, but it will help lower costs if it’s programmed correctly. Different people have different theories about using an air conditioner. My brother, for instance, turns the thermostat completely off while he’s at work. When he returns home, he’s greeted by a blast of 95-degree air, and turns the thermostat back on. I’m sure the air conditioner runs nonstop until the wee hours of the morning to bring the temperature back down. Other people set their thermostat and leave it alone. However, cooling your house for an entire day while you’re away doesn’t seem like a good idea either. A programmable thermostat splits the difference. You program it to cool the air to your comfort when you’re at home, and then when you leave for work, it will adjust to a slightly higher temperature setting. You may ask, what is the most efficient way to program a thermostat? It is suggested, by most in the industry as well as Nevada Energy, to set it two to four degrees higher when you’re not at home than what you set it for while you’re at home. For example, if you prefer the temperature to be 78 degrees when you’re at home, program the thermostat to turn on the air conditioner when the temperature reaches 80 to 82 degrees. Personally, I raise my ideal temperature by four degrees when I am gone. You can also raise the temperature inside the house slightly and use ceiling fans or can go for air conditioning service las vegas

Whether you’re simply hanging out at home or have a number of guests coming over, you want your place to be cool and comfortable, with soothing air in all your rooms. However, if you’ve been having problems with your cooling unit, or don’t have one at all, a contractor can stop by and provide an AC system installation or air conditioning service las vegas. Explore other reasons to get a unit installed in your home. If you live anywhere in the south, then you know what heat is. That’s why it’s essential to be able to cool off when needed. Without proper cooling, people can get really sick or even die from heat stroke. It’s best to cool off by getting to a shaded area and enjoy some relief from the heat or even go inside to enjoy some cold air conditioning. People that live in areas where there are more cold times than hot, then they may be able to get by without a proper cooling unit. But if you are like most people that live in warmer climates, air conditioning is a must and it’s best to contact an expert for ac system installation. If you’ve been living in a particular home for a number of years, then you may have experienced plenty of good years out of your cooling unit. However, over time, you may have began to notice that the home just doesn’t cool off like it used to. Or worse, it may not cool off at all, leaving you stuck in a pool of sweat and extremely uncomfortable. If you simply cannot take it anymore, it’s best to call a qualified ac system installation expert. He or she can come out to your home, assess the problem and put in a new air conditioning unit in no time. You will soon enjoy a cooler environment that you can enjoy. If you’ve been making do by opening windows and using fans, you’re probably ready for something a bit more effective when trying to cool off. While using ceiling fans, or rotating fans can be really nice, they usually work best when there is an air conditioning unit running at the same time, unless it’s not that hot outside. But for the most part, a fan will not be enough on a really sweltering day, even if you’re inside the house. At this point, it’s time to break down and have an ac system installation. Most contractors can come out the same day in order to ensure you get the unit you need to cool off fast. Many classic homes that are in their original condition do not come with central air conditioning. And while you love all the charm and details of a home that may have been built at the turn of the century, you definitely won’t enjoy it if you’re hot all the time. The good thing is that you can enjoy all the perks of an older property, but you can enjoy it even more by having ac system installation. As a result, you will feel at ease inviting friends and family over to see your place and won’t have to be concerned with whether or not it’s too hot in the house.

An air conditioner is made to resist all types of problems and keep functioning. However, they need regular maintenance. Like a car, they require regular tune ups in order to function well. As time passes, everything starts to lose efficiency, so without annual maintenance, they will not operate properly. Do not forget that when an appliance runs constantly, it is more prone to break downs and general wear and tear. Even a bit of dust on an appliance can end up being costly. It makes more sense to pay a small fee for maintenance once a year, than a huge fee for repairs when your air conditioner stops functioning. This is true for your car as well, since both are cheaper to maintain than to repair. If you have a permanent air conditioning system in your home, be sure to get it serviced at least once a year. Some people have experienced 25% savings by having their air conditioner tuned up. Before encouraging a tune up one must know the difference between an average tune up and a high quality tune up. Most tune-ups claim to adjust, check, reset, or change back to factory settings. This means as soon as your air conditioner is serviced it will be as good as new and you can service it at air conditioning service las vegas. It’s important to get your money’s worth. One must look for an experienced company to provide the tune up for their air conditioners; any mistakes can be very costly. A quality air conditioner tune up would involve measurement of airflow. If they find that the airflow is not functioning properly, then the blower wheel and filter are cleaned. Cleaning the condenser by spraying a heavy foaming cleanser could help. A professional would have the right tools to measure the indoor and outdoor wet and dry bulbs. Last, but not least, adjusting the refrigerant charge is very important after the airflow is set.
